For more than ten years, Tanz auf der Membran has been creating a space where the city’s carnival tradition merges with contemporary club culture. Instead of brass bands and street parades, the dancefloor takes center stage – packed with costumes, confetti and a musically diverse crowd that reflects the spirit of Cologne.</p><p>From the afternoon into the early hours, Stadtgarten and JAKI transform into a vibrant playground: expect a journey that moves from sing-along carnival moments to bass-driven electronic sounds, from Hip Hop energy to hypnotic club grooves. The atmosphere is as colorful as the costumes – open, inclusive and built on the idea of celebrating together without boundaries.</p><p>Costumes are highly encouraged, whether glittering, absurd, or playful – but leave anything discriminatory or offensive at home. The focus is on freedom, creativity and respect on the dancefloor.</p><p>What began as an experiment has become one of Cologne’s most unique fixtures: twice a year, Tanz auf der Membran gathers carnival lovers and clubbers under one roof, proving that tradition and nightlife can not only coexist but create something entirely new.
