April’s Refuge brings you three DJs intent on exploring the fringe sectors of jungle and underground future music. Recon’s co-founder Despise enters the Refuge chamber, a DJ whose prowess is only matched by her dedication to the jungle & drum and bass scene. Heads recognize Denver’s Recon as exemplary, influential, and a cornerstone of the contemporary stateside jungle movement. On direct support; former Chicagoan turned Floridian Whoa-B joins the fray. Whoa-B co-hosts the Abstract Science radio show that explores bleeding edge electronic music weekly. Resident Rat Galactic joins us for opening duty.

Despise_

Co-founder and boss of Denver’s respected Recon DNB collective, Maggie "Despise" has been a dedicated advocate of jungle/drum & bass for over two decades. Through Recon, she is a curator, passionately promoting the underground sounds of the genre and introducing a multitude of global talent to the Colorado music scene. With 25+ years of DJ experience, she mixes a diverse range of sounds in and around jungle, DNB and beyond. Always on the hunt for those deep cuts, her versatile style encompasses hardcore, halftime, footwork, minimal, rave and anything a bit weird and different. Expect to hear something fresh, moody and unexpected from this selector.

Whoa-B_

Bill Bearden aka Whoa-B is a DJ who specializes in electronic music of British origin.

He began collecting records in 1999 and has since made a name for himself as a bass music aficionado, opening for artists including Todd Edwards, Mount Kimbie, Plastician, Rusko, Addison Groove, Plaid, and Om Unit. Bill also co-hosts Abstract Science, a long-running weekly radio show on WLUW 88.7 FM which explores innovative electronic music and its roots.

Best known for his YouTube videos, especially the original "Ten Minute Dubstep Mix" with millions of views, he inspired a generation of DJs with impeccable selection and quick mixing.
