SOUNDBOY'S RETURN OF THE JUMP UP

On April 10th, Soundboy takes you back to the old-school jump-up sound, blending DnB flavors from 1995 onwards.

This time, we’re joined by Clarkey and Stranger, two heavyweights known for their modern jump-up style, who will be doing an exclusive old-school set just for you! Manchester legends Mark XTC, Sappo, and MC Frost—key figures in the Drum and Bass scene—will also be bringing the heat, alongside the rising talents Jumanji, Chy, Pablogyal, and Silasthedon.

We’re diving back into a subgenre of drum and bass that emerged in the mid-90s, defined by bouncy basslines, simple yet infectious drum patterns, and a dynamic contrast between the chorus and the drop. Expect to hear looped, sampled vocal chops and effects inspired by hip-hop techniques. This isn’t your typical jump-up sound!

This night is also dedicated to our friend Noxxic, a regular at my nights at OldAbbey and someone I’ve always admired and gave me the confidence to put these nights on n try something new. Let’s try to recreate that iconic Abbey vibe at Bloc. Hope to see you all there!
