Like many DJs, Mentalien has been a music enthusiast from a very young age. He began exploring less commercial music around the age of 12, and soon his passion focused primarily on drum & bass. Influential tracks like "Inner City Life", "Warhead" and "Friday" made him fall in love with the genre so much, that he started to buy dnb records when he was 16. This was the era when liquid funk emerged, since then its soulful, rolling, and vocal-heavy sound has always held a significant place in his musical preferences, even when his style deviates from drum & bass. As a dedicated music fan, Mentalien has always kept an eye on various styles, including jungle, garage, house, hip-hop, soul, broken beats, techno, jazz, and many other dance music genres.

After a few local gigs and guest appearances on Hungary’s well-known radio stations (Tilos Radio, Est FM), and co-hosting the 3Elements crew’s show on his hometown’s FM radio, he decided to start his own show called 3K. This show aired every Sunday for more than four years. Many talented Hungarian and international guests participated, and, of course, Mentalien himself showcased his diverse taste in drum & bass and other music styles numerous times. In addition to radio, he began performing regularly in both Budapest and the countryside.

In the late 2000s, Mentalien expanded his musical palette as a DJ, delving deeper into other genres like bass music, garage, UK funky, and house. Focusing on the crowd, most of his selections are dancefloor-oriented but also soulful and melodic, mixed up with a few heavy-hitting tracks. Occasionally, he likes to push boundaries and select unexpected or “leftfield” tunes.

From 2004 to 2023, Mentalien was also active in the Hungarian music scene as a journalist and editor, writing articles, interviews, and reviews for Impulsecreator. He contributed to the highly praised magazine New Noise, released between 2010 and 2011, and worked for the Hungarian version of DJ Mag between 2013 and 2014.

Throughout the years, he has not only played alongside leading Hungarian DJs but also with some of his internationally acclaimed musical heroes, such as DJ Marky, Fracture, MJ Cole, Makoto, Zed Bias, Rockwell, Pearson Sound, DJ Storm, Wookie, Danny Byrd, DJ EZ, Jenna G, Lenzman, Toddla T, Oneman, Kingdom, Girl Unit, TC1, Mosca, Boddika, Goldie, Redeyes, Marcus Intalex, Roska, Fabio, TC, Calibre, DJ Die, Tessela, Random Movement, Dbridge, Machinedrum, and many more. When it comes to performing at a radio station, club, or festival, the influence of these great artists is clearly evident in his sets.

Throughout his career, he had gigs in legendary Budapest clubs like Home, Citadella, Durlin, Studio, A38, Akvárium, and Corvintető, and he has performed at festivals like Sziget, Balaton Sound, Volt, and Bass Camp. He's also been a regular in the scenes of major Hungarian cities like Debrecen, Szeged, and Kecskemét. In recent years, he was lucky enough to get invited to DJ in the UK, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Romania. Alongside these incredible gigs and lifetime experiences, he hosted a radio show on Rcko.FM from 2013 to 2015, where he interviewed many key players from the local drum&bass scene.

In 2016, he joined DJ Ren to co-host the Dzsungel Könyve dnb/jungle show on Hungary's biggest independent FM station, Tilos Radio. His primary focus on the bi-weekly radio show is to showcase top-quality, fresh releases from the world of jungle, drum&bass, 160 bass, and occasionally from other genres like bass music and garage.
