Wrisk is the DJ, designer and curator behind Overground—Edinburgh’s influential genre-diverse rave series, known for providing a platform for underrepresented niche subcultures in Scotland.

As a DJ, Wrisk is recognised for a unique mixing style, euphoric high-octane sets that connect the dots across the hardcore continuum via rare vinyl cuts, soundcloud ephemera, hyperpop, UK underground, the soundtrack of international scenes, and emerging genres yet to be named.

Shaped by an insatiable curiosity and a no-stone-left-unturned digging habit, Wrisk’s cross-cultural influences can be traced back to teenage rabbit holes of tumblrcore microgenres and deep dives into the uncategorised sections of record shops across Scotland and beyond.

After developing his craft over many years as a teenage bedroom DJ, it was as a physics student at Edinburgh University that Wrisk began playing publicly, having developed a singular approach to DJing that pays homage to dance music’s cultural heritage while maintaining a strong sense of originality.

Expect versatile selections encompassing the latest sonic innovations and razor-sharp cuts from the farthest reaches of the dance music underworld. Discogs rarities and cult oddities from the shadowed recesses of club culture—spanning the formative originations through the future sound of rave. Emotional coherence over genre boundaries, bridging the gaps between chronologically and aesthetically disparate scenes.

Wrisk’s sets reflect a collision of internet hyperculture and underground lineage—rooted in a crate-digger’s instinct for the left-field. Traversing full ranges of tempo and sonic palettes, pushing beyond the predictable edges of contemporary dancefloor sound.

Equally comfortable navigating the ultra-digital and the deeply archival, Wrisk’s selections move fluidly between breakneck club mutations and dancefloor pressure points, valuing the thrill of discovery.

Through his curatorial position as the founder of Overground, Wrisk has shared lineups with artists including DJ Assault, UNiiQU3, Dax J, Hixxy, DJ SS, notably Mall Grab’s debut as Overground’s first booking following early connection via mutual online music communities.

Beyond the booth, Wrisk’s practice extends to the project’s visual identity—designing artwork, flyers and audiovisual concepts that reinforce its distinct aesthetic world. Wrisk is also co-founder of RaveSafe—Overground’s harm reduction initiative providing on-site support, qualified judgement-free andvice and gender neutral facilities.

Wrisk has been handpicked to fill a wide range of roles as a DJ—from events focused on rare groove and global sounds to experimental and avant-garde art environments. Sought out for artist liaison and programming festival stages—Wrisk has also shared lineups with artists including LTJ Bukem, Black Coffee, Trance Wax, Horse Meat Disco, Roni Size, Harri & Dom, and even indie outfits such as Circa Waves.
