2016 has already seen Das Kapital make his mark on the South African music scene

In April he was announced as the host of a three hour extended In Das We Trust show on national broadcaster 5FM which sees him bring his cumulative radio experience of the last 5 years to the national airwaves. Featuring international guests and a focus on the local Dance and Electronic scene it aims to raise Dance music even further.

He said to People Magazine SA:

I hope to introduce my listeners to new genres and artists, whilst easing them into the new week. We have incredible local and international guests lined up already, so now it’s just down to showing everyone what I’m about, and what makes In Das We Trust such a special show!”

His previous radio shows have included Tiesto, Nicky Romero, Cedric Gervais, Maya Jane Coles, Dismantle, Koan Sound, Prok & Fitch, DJ Cable, DJ Rafik, and Mumbai Science and the new In Das We Trust already has many more lined up for future shows.

2016 also saw another Das Kapital single hit the 5FM playlist with his collaboration with singer Kahn from indie rock stars The Parlotones called Fade To Light. The track was the result of a Sony Xperia Mashlab series.

Das Kapital will also be releasing his new EP with UK label Night Shift Sound, a remix for London artist Murder He Wrote on Love Sick Recordings, collaborations with band Shortstraw and Jack Parow, and a new compilation called “Overtime, named after his club night at Fiction in Cape Town, on his own label Do Work Records.

These follow up his previous single “City Back” – a remix of which is due later this year – his collaboration with Corderoy (of which another is planned for late 2016), and remixes for Big Narstie; Sharkslayer, First Gift and All Guns Blazing; and Stoltenhoff & Mike Cervello.

As one of the biggest DJs in South Africa Das Kapital also continues to headline festivals and club nights across the country, bringing a party vibe allied with his excellent technical skills. His brilliant DJ sets, crowd reading ability and infectious energy ensure that nobody is left unmoved.

Headline sets at Namibian, Zimbabwean and UK festivals have brought these skills to an international audience. Oppikoppi, Rocking The Daisies, Grietfest, Sonar Cape Town, Splashy Fen, Boat Race, Mad Decent Block Party, Synergy and Ultra South Africa have all seen the devastation that his skills can cause locally.

Previous highlights for Das Kapital include remixes for Waxhole USA, Neon Records & MOS Australia, Universal USA, F! Records / Soul Candi in South Africa and Mixmash (Netherlands); he has also written music for Hollywood film trailers and USA TV shows as well as for a number of brand campaigns.

As owner of Do Work Records he has been heavily involved in bringing through the next generation of South African electronic talent where the label will shortly release it’s tenth release. Artists include Hendrik Joerges, D_Know, Tyron Woods, Leechi, RVWR and Garcon.

Destiny Magazine recently named Das Kapital as one of their Top 40 South Africans to follow up GQ Magazine naming him as one of South Africa’s 35 Coolest People Under 35 in 2014. The Mail & Guardian also named him in their prestigious Top 200 Young South Africans and he has contributed as a speaker to TEDxUCT in Cape Town and has appeared on national TV in South Africa.

He is also a brand ambassador for Puma, Roland SA, and RayBan in South Africa.
