Dance Concept

Dance Concept, based in London, is a highly respected British drum and bass promotion and independent record label, founded in 1999. Originally established as a vibrant event promoter, the brand cultivated a reputation for hosting dynamic parties across the UK before expanding into music releases. The label officially launched in 2003 and quickly made its mark with its first major release, the album The Legend by Stevie Hyper D. This debut garnered national radio attention including spins on KISS FM and BBC Radio One, and saw the track Buffalo Soldier nominated for DNBA Tune of the Year in 2004. Over the years, Dance Concept has maintained its presence through carefully curated single and EP releases, most notably featuring works by Benny V, Dfrnt Lvls, Modified Motion, Sub Zero and others. In 2008 and 2009, the label brought its sound to life through a series of label tours, most prominently at The Rhythm Factory in London’s East End. A decade later, in 2012, Dance Concept paid tribute to its legacy with the sell-out Stevie Hyper tribute event Generation Hyper , cementing its connection to the roots of the scene. Artists on the Dance Concept roster span a wide spectrum of drum and bass talent, from veterans like Aphrodite, Kenny Ken and Serum to emerging voices such as Voltage and Bladerunner. This breadth reflects the label’s ability to honour the genre’s storied past while championing fresh sounds.
