Anna Bochdreef 19/21, 1000 Bruxelles
Brasserie de la Senne was born of a meeting in May 2002 between Yvan De Baets and Bernard Leboucq, during the second edition of the Zinneke parade in Brussels, for which Bernard had created, as an amateur, the now famous Zinnebir. They began their career as professional brewers at the end of 2003, building a microbrewery in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, in the former warehouse of the Moriau brewery. They chose the name ‘Sint-Pieters Brouwerij’. After two years in business, the premises became too small. So they decided to move and make their dream come true: to establish themselves in their home town, Brussels. To mark the occasion, they named their brewery after the river that gave birth to the city over a thousand years ago: Brasserie de la Senne. It took them five years before they were actually able to set up in the capital. In the meantime, in order to continue production, they rented various breweries belonging to friends, where they brewed their beers themselves.
