Desimal

Desimal was the stage name of Canadian producer Graham William March (born November 18, 1980). He worked primarily in drum and bass — most notably neurofunk — and produced electronic material from Winnipeg, Manitoba. March began making music in 1994 and died by suicide on May 23, 2006.

March’s entry into electronic music began on an Amiga computer in 1994. That platform shaped his early workflow: tracker-style sequencing, sample-based construction and hands-on editing of breaks and samples. He released material on underground labels; credits and releases for Desimal appear on tribute and music-database sites that preserve those listings.

As a producer, Desimal’s outputs are identified with neurofunk and drum and bass production techniques. His tracks show focused break editing, layered and processed bass tones, and attention to midrange grit and sub presence. He worked with tight, programmatic sequencing typical of tracker-era production, and his material often uses resampling, heavy filtering and saturation to sculpt basslines and texture while keeping drum hits edited and precise for the low-end to sit clean in the mix.

March released music under several aliases: Epidose, Emisdee, msd and Lazarek. Those alternate names appear in the same online credits and tribute listings that document his catalog. Specific releases and label names are catalogued on archival tribute pages and music databases rather than in mainstream outlets; those pages are the primary public record of his output.

Public sources do not record a list of named personal influences or detailed interview material for March. What survives in public records are the tracks and aliases catalogued on tribute sites and music databases, which document his role as a producer working in neurofunk/drum and bass from Winnipeg during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

A tribute site maintains much of Desimal’s catalog and the biographical details above; that site and music-database listings are the main places to consult for credits, aliases and release information.
