Hillsdom

Hillsdom are a United Kingdom–based drum & bass production duo from Essex, England. The project is credited in press and ticketing as Jake Hicks and Jack Pike. Their recorded output sits across drum & bass, jungle, liquid funk and dub‑techno shades, with occasional UK R&B inflections on vocal-led tracks.

They have been active since at least 2017. An early verified appearance is on Viper Recordings' compilation Drum & Bass Summer Slammers 2017. Since then Hillsdom have released original material and remixes on labels including Viper, RAM (Program), Technique (Simon Bassline) and Pilot. Press and playlist coverage has included features on UKF and YourEDM.

As producers, Hillsdom focus on hybrid production that pulls from the listed genres. Their work commonly pairs warm, sustained pads and dub‑techno style atmospherics with tight, edited break percussion and a sub‑driven low end. Tracks such as "Fauxtopia", "Thoughtless" and "Gaslight" demonstrate that approach: melodic and textural elements sit over pronounced low frequencies and rhythm edits that nod to jungle and liquid structures. Vocal processing and R&B‑influenced phrasing appear on some releases, most clearly on collaborative material like "Lucid Dreams" with Novokane.

On technical choices they favour layered sound design and spatial effects to build depth—reverb and delay often push pads and vocal chops into the foreground while the low‑end is mixed for weight and clarity. Percussion work shows attention to break editing and transient shaping: drums are frequently chopped and re‑programmed rather than left as straight looped samples, and snares are kept crisp to cut through dense atmospherics. Bass design leans toward a rounded sub with midrange movement for presence on club systems.

Hillsdom present themselves primarily as producers but also perform DJ sets. A documented live/DJ example is their UKF On Air DJ set. Their catalogue includes the named tracks and the Novokane collaboration "Lucid Dreams", and they have contributed remixes and releases for the labels listed above (Viper, RAM/Program, Technique, Pilot).

Public statements of explicit artistic influences are limited; however, their label affiliations and collaborators (Viper Recordings, RAM Program, Technique/Simon Bassline, Novokane) offer a clear line to the contemporary UK drum & bass and jungle production community they operate within. For verifiable reference points, see their appearance on Drum & Bass Summer Slammers 2017, features on UKF and YourEDM, and releases under Viper, RAM (Program), Technique and Pilot.
