OneDa (real name Onye Ezeh) is a Manchester-based rapper, MC and producer working across bassline, drum & bass, grime, jungle and liquid funk. She was born to a family of Nigerian heritage and raised in Manchester’s Hulme and Gorton districts. OneDa is signed to Heavenly Recordings and self-produced her debut album Formula OneDa, released in 2024.
OneDa’s entry into music began in gospel groups as a young performer. She later moved into Manchester’s hip‑hop, grime and drum & bass circles and toured as lead rapper with The Mouse Outfit. Outside her solo work she has recorded and performed with Sam Binga, Mr Scruff and Fat Budha, and she features on Vibe Chemistry’s track “Ballin’”.
As a producer and MC, OneDa’s work sits at the intersection of grime vocal delivery and bass-heavy electronic production. Her 2024 album Formula OneDa is self-produced, demonstrating her control over beats, vocal arrangement and the overall sound palette on record. Her productions draw on bassline weight and drum & bass tempos while incorporating vocal phrasing and cadences from grime and hip‑hop; on stage she performs both written verses and live MC parts.
Specific sonic hallmarks in OneDa’s output include prominent low‑end basslines and rhythmic drum programming that reference jungle and dnb energy while leaving space for clear vocal takes. On collaborations with producers such as Sam Binga she moves into darker, break‑driven textures; work with artists like Mr Scruff shows a willingness to sit with more melodic or sample‑based material. Her contribution on Vibe Chemistry’s “Ballin’” places her voice within a contemporary drum & bass context and exposed her to broader DnB radio play.
OneDa’s career includes national radio support and festival stages. She has received support from BBC 6 Music and has performed at UK events including Glastonbury and Manchester Pride. In recognition of her profile and output she won the AIM Independent Music Awards “One to Watch” category.
Beyond recording and performing, OneDa is active in mentoring and community projects that support female and non‑binary rappers. That work sits alongside her live shows and studio releases, positioning her as a visible figure for emerging artists in Manchester’s scenes.
