Sleepnet is the solo alias of Dutch producer Nik Roos. He works in bass music and drum and bass from Groningen, Netherlands. Roos publicly revealed the Sleepnet identity in March 2021 and issued the First Light EP on Noisia’s Vision imprint that same month.
The First Light EP is Sleepnet’s debut release under the name. It lists tracks including "Angel Blade" and "Love No More", a co‑credit with Former on "Void Song", and a separate collaboration with IMANU. Those tracks and credits are the concrete public entries for the project to date.
Sleepnet’s material explicitly draws on sounds pulled from unreleased Noisia productions. Because Nik Roos is a member of the electronic trio Noisia, Sleepnet repurposes and reworks elements from that archive: you can hear the source material recontextualised into single‑artist compositions on the First Light EP.
Stylistically, the Sleepnet output sits at the intersection of bass music and drum and bass. On the First Light tracks that means emphasis on sculpted low end and tight break edits rather than long ambient washes. The EP foregrounds layered bass textures, clipped and edited breaks, and concise arrangement choices that move between club‑oriented drops and more textural passages.
As a producer, Roos’s role under Sleepnet is studio‑focused: assembling previously unused Noisia material, adding new production and finishing tracks for release on Vision. Collaborations on the EP — Former on "Void Song" and IMANU on the untitled joint — show Sleepnet working with peers who share an interest in heavy bass design and detailed drum work.
Public biographical detail beyond the March 2021 debut, the First Light EP (Vision), and the connection to Noisia is limited. What is verifiable: Sleepnet = Nik Roos; debut release March 2021 on Vision; tracks include "Angel Blade", "Love No More", "Void Song" (with Former); and a collaboration with IMANU.
