About the event

'Chinese Laundry Invites' – A Dynamic Series Tailored to community-run events featuring local crew takeovers, record label showcases, and more exciting community-driven ideas.

------

Laundry [DnB / Jungle / Bass]

DEGS [UK]

GARDNA [UK]

CHRIS MUNKY

QUAKES

------

------

Cave: [UKG / Bass / House ]

MASH + Friends

BOUKI

GABRIELLE SPRITZ

SPENG

MASH

------

DEGS [LIVE – UK]

Degs has honed his craft and become adept in many styles. With a strong R&B and hip hop influence, his songwriting and MCing soon took a soulful turn proving the adaptability and musical prowess of this accomplished songwriter. Degs draws upon an a broad set of lyrical forms, fusing fast sprays with harmonious singing inspired by the likes of Fats, Eksman and Dynamite. It’s no easy feat to master the dual-craft of rapping and singing, with few MC’s possessing the skills shown by the latest artist to join the Hospital family.

His debut single Poveglia (feat De:Tune) was an overwhelming success which garnered support in clubs across the globe and became one of the D+B anthems of summer 2018. With over 500,000 streams on his debut single, he moved from strength to strength, following ‘Poveglia’ up with a sterling ‘Mixtape Sprayout’, featuring unique verses sitting atop iconic Hospital classics, including the ‘Black Sheep’ freestyle which brought him to the attention of London Elektricity.

Now one of the most sought-after MCs on the circuit, the future is exceedingly bright for Hospital’s most recent vocalist.

GARDNA

Murky UK bass fusion from one of Bristol's hottest MCs.Bristol rapper Gardna is probably best known for his ode to '90s rave and soundsystem culture, Back In The Dayz. Launching with speedy, precise breakbeat-inspired percussion and a deep sawtooth bassline, his latest single "On That" doesn't stray far from the UK dance roots that defined his previous hit. The instrumental is grimy and brooding, peppered with back-to-back verses from Gardna and cult Mancunian MC DRS, who brings booming vocals plus "a revolutionary fighting spirit / And lightning lyrics." Pulled from upcoming album Time & Space and released as a double-single alongside "R.A.V.E.A.S.A.P," it's an energetic fusion of UK bass music styles enhanced by the charismatic vocals of one of Bristol's hottest MCs.

MASH + FRIENDS

With her inaugural takeover of the Chinese Laundry Cave, Mash showcases what, in her opinion, is the number one thing to make a dancefloor - a diversity of music. From more downtempo and experimental styles, to prog, bass and garage, this night promises a range of pace and styles to fit the space.

Mash has curated a night that celebrates the depth of talent in the local scene of our city, calling on friends Bouki, Gabriella Spritz and Speng.
