PartyMIA KODEN
Sub-heavy excursions and razor-sharp productions, still rough enough to make even the toughest of soundsystems blush, paying respect to the golden era of 'dubstep' and UK Bass musics whilst simultaneously blazing a trail into the future with fearless determination.
Having entered the scene as one half of the duo Sicaria Sound alongside sonic sister Sicaria, she now set out alone under the guise of Mia Koden, establishing herself as a front-runner of the worldwide bass scene, drawing on her heritage as both South Sudanese and South Londoner, unbarred by genre definitions or tempos, she works at the apex of high-level production quality and truly simple, direct, ice-cold soundsystem bangers with a soulful touch.
Expect screwface-inducing tunes and emotional heads-down moments.
DJ MIC
The legendary OHM doorman steps up for his second round at the controls of Version to bring you a set as inviting and as humble as the man himself..
A true Afropean in every sense of the word, DJ Mic expresses his legacy as both a DJ and artist in which he evokes strong and complex black history.
He is the mind (and heart) behind the Love & Devotion party in OHM which offers a space free of conceptions about age, sex, class or gender, in which dancing comes first and the DJ’s focus is to champion excellent sounds no matter its stylistic leanings.
His deep knowledge and love of music is put out into the world with raw true passion, selecting gems and sewing the seams of jungle and drum n bass, anywhere between emotive, harsh and energetic.
DJ HOPS
Veteran dub-master and Version fixture DJ Hops is known by many for his love and appreciation of the Jamaican dub sound, melding with his intricate understanding of sub-weighted music through many styles and influenced by his time working at legendary Berlin record store Hard Wax.
The hard edged techno-tinted sound is expressed in every way other than straight up ‘techno’ when he steps into the booth, dipping between UK dubstep and bass classics, gritty footwork and jungle, dub techno atmospherics and up through to special tender moments of soul and rare grooves.
Calm and calculated ideas are put into motion with mixing skills sharper than a surgeon's scalpel, cutting in seamless blends and keeping the energy hot, whether it’s peak time steppers or rolling out high-tempo rinse-outs at the end of an event, a DJ Hops set leaves listeners pumped and hungry for more.
ORSON
Version’s beating heart and Berlin underground bass music initiator Orson connects the dots between global bass movements, drawing heavy influence from pan-African, Eurpoean, British and US club sensibilities, rolling them all into one tightly blended package. Laying down selections that are simultaneously classic and future thinking without bending the knee to trends, all whilst remaining focused on pushing his tight-knit worldwide network of producers and friends.
As a producer himself, he’s hailed for his perfectly simple and effective soundsystem-geared bangers, with strong atmospheric presence and nods to all of his favourite influences through clever use of sampling. An Orson record is a rare but timeless beauty, all of them aged like fine wine and still providing head turning moments to this day.
His slinky expressive movements behind the decks directly embody the diversity of groove that he brings to every soundsystem that he is placed in charge of and will certainly encourage you to loosen up on the dancefloor.
