Double O

Double O is the stage name of Doncaster-born David Henry. He is a producer and DJ working in breakbeat, jungle and drum and bass. Based in London since around 1998, Double O has been active in the scene since the early 1990s and previously recorded under the alias 007.

Henry moved from Doncaster to London around 1998 and remained active as both a producer and selector. In 2006 he co-founded the Rupture club night and label with DJ Mantra. Since then he has run regular Rupture events — notably hosting nights at Corsica Studios and The Fold — while managing releases on the Rupture imprint.

Public documentation of Double O’s exact studio methods is limited, but his recorded output and label placements place his work squarely across breakbeat, jungle and drum and bass. His releases on Formation Records, Lab Logic and Rupture demonstrate a focus on break-derived rhythms, edited drum patterns and bass-forward arrangements consistent with those styles. Press coverage has highlighted his album Firm Meditation along with a number of EPs and compilation appearances.

As a DJ, Double O has been directly involved in running and playing Rupture nights; those events are a concrete example of his role as both promoter and performer.
