23:00 – 04:00
The Eagle Inn· Manchester, United Kingdom
January marks the Manchester launch of 'Prisma', the debut full-length album from innovative producer and DJ, Juan Aguilar aka Brain.
This Colombian-born artist has made a resounding impact in UK Drum and Bass since moving to London year ago. After an incredible launch party for 'Prisma' back in November, he is bringing his unique and crafted style to the north west, joined by a bunch of close collaborators and some local legends.
The night will be headlined by Brain himself (Dispatch, Sofa Sound) accompanied by none other than fellow Sofa Sound artist and distinctly brilliant rave host, MC Gusto.
Joining them is accomplished French junglist, Speaker Louis (Jungle Cakes, Hyperactivity) and Manchester's own celebrated MC, Freddy B (Overview, Sofa Sound) who will be treating us with a DJ set as well as his usual lyrical antics!
There will be Manchester debuts from Mexican music producer and 3D artist: Mae917, fellow Colombian DJ: Relax and MC / Beatboxer: Neurobeat, promising an exclusive display from this Latin American array of talent.
Finally, local rave-poet and MC, Vispera, and Dropjaw Audio's leading lady, Kyber, will be gracing our stage with some of the dark, empowering energy that they delivered to the Eagle Inn on the 'EDEN' tour previously this year.
Come and see the Manchester launch of Brain's transformative and nuanced album 'Prisma', out now on the legendary Dispatch Recordings.
'PRISMA' - Album by Brain
'Prisma' is a sonic journey that explores the interplay between light and dark, breaking down the many nuances of drum and bass into a vibrant palette of sound. Inspired by how a prism disperses light, each track reveals a distinct dimension, from high-energy bursts to more introspective soundscapes. Just as a prism transforms white light into a multi-coloured spectrum, this album seeks to transform the listener's emotions and experiences into a deep dive, powerful bass lines and immersive atmospheres guide the listener through a journey influenced by Latin American rhythmic patterns such as salsa, cumbia, vallenato, and carranga. The influence manifests itself more in the rhythms and beats than in traditional sonic elements, giving the album a distinctive and deep character. Each track reflects the diversity of sound and music's ability to convey both light and shadow across the album, encompassing a variety of styles including drum and bass, jungle, dubstep, breakbeat, and ambient.
