DJ Hazard (Scott Molloy, b. 1977) is a British drum and bass and jungle producer and DJ from Birmingham in the Midlands. His work sits across bassline, drum and bass and jump-up; he performs as a DJ and releases production work under the name DJ Hazard and the aliases Dirty Harry and Vague.
Molloy first gained attention after producing for DJ SS’s Formation Records. That output brought him to the notice of DJ Hype, and he subsequently signed to Playaz Recordings. He is associated with the True Playaz collective and the Ganja Records crew, and has released records on Playaz, Ganja and Frontline as well as on his own imprints Radius Recordings and Hazardous Material.
Hazard’s catalogue includes jump-up anthems cited repeatedly by DJs and selectors: tracks such as “Machete” and “Psychedelic,” plus the Bricks Don’t Roll EP. Those releases are frequently referenced when describing his dancefloor-facing production and are central to his reputation within the scene.
As a producer he is best known for compact, club-directed arrangements that foreground bassline movement and punchy drum programming. On his jump-up material the low end is a driving element, while arrangements favour clear drop moments and concise track structures aimed at soundsystem impact. His use of those approaches is evident across the singles and EPs that made his name.
On the DJ side, Hazard combines his production perspective with energy-focused sets. He has played DJ slots that feature his own tracks alongside contemporaries’ rollers and jump-up records, using tight mixing and track selection to hit peak moments in a set. His role as both producer and selector has kept his material in rotation among DJs linked to True Playaz and Ganja Records.
Beyond records and crews, Molloy’s standing in the scene was recognised on 4 March 2017 when he won the Best DJ award at the Drum and Bass Awards. That accolade sits alongside his catalogue and label activity as one of the concrete markers of his contribution to UK drum and bass.
